The one place I thought I would only visit but never actually live.
All though this is just for the summer, I am excited to see where NY will take me in life. This place is so glamorous and intimidating that I almost didn't apply to the internship that I am going for now.
For my degree we are required to have 120 hours of an internship. It can be anywhere that is approved by our advisor. I have known since a very early age I wanted to work with books; it would be nice to become an author BUT I'm no J.K. Rowling. I still wanted to work with books though, and plan to write, so naturally interning with a book publishing company made sense.
Harper Collins Publishing is one of those places I always felt pulled towards. They are an AMAZING company producing awesome books and working with great authors all the time. Once I found out they had an intern program I was hesitant to apply.
I'm a cliche.
The small town girl heading off to the big city. I'm no body grand or special but I do believe in myself and know that if I work hard I can achieve anything.
Instead of just letting the summer pass without applying I said "WHY NOT?" and went for it.
It was 12 hours later after I had sent in my resume that I heard back from Harper Collins... and as the cliche goes "the rest is history".
The whole point of this post is "to take chances". Don't think that you are not worthy, you won't get it, or you're not good enough... because if you allow those thoughts to cloud your mind, you won't get anywhere in life. Had I thought negatively... I wouldn't be on my way to NY right now.
Just believe in yourself, take chances, and don't be afraid to fall.
Sometimes you just might grow wings and fly ;)
xoxo
