Packing was difficult because I felt the need to bring my entire closet.
Now that I have just finished unpacking it is clear to me that I packed entirely too much.

I may end up shipping some of it back home... and I am just talking about clothes.
*sigh*
This morning Dad, Mom, and myself drug ourselves out of bed at 4:00am (I was up at 3:45am AND we left on time! yay me!) to head to the airport. Most of you have experienced air travel, or at least I hope you have, and I don't think I need to go into details about the very unhealthy fast food, screaming/crying children, and trying to find a good way to "lean" in order to sleep.
Fast forward a few hours and I can see the Atlantic Ocean and buildings start popping up like daisies!
New York ladies and gentlemen!
New York ladies and gentlemen!
Even as I exited the plane and grabbed my luggage (like a pro I might add), it still didn't hit me that I was in New York City.
NEW. YORK. CITY!
It wasn't until I tossed my bags into the back of a yellow taxi cab and had him drive me through the city that I started to get over-whelmed.
"What the heck am I doing!?"
"Oh my goodness, I am in a big city... by myself..."
"MOMMMYYYY!!!!"
"Oh my goodness, I am in a big city... by myself..."
"MOMMMYYYY!!!!"
Yep, that was pretty much my thought process the whole drive.
Well technically it was more like:
"What the heck am I doing!?"
"OOOOOOhhhh pretty building!"
"Oh my goodness, I am in a big city... by myself..."
"Oh my goodness, I am in a big city... by myself..."
"WOOHOO I'm in a big city all by myself!"
"MOMMMYYYY!!!!"
"MOMMMYYYY!!!!"
"This is the BEST DAY ever!!!" (to quote Tangled)
Oh! Upon being dropped off, I had my first "New Yorker Cursing Match" experience.
The bus that was behind us wasn't happy that I was trying to get my luggage out of the taxi and my driver proceeded to throw a slue of naughty words and hand gestures at the bus... which the bus driver returned, of course.

*sigh* I already love New York.

I have to say my room-mate is awesome! We are both from the south, both from small towns, and this is our first time here in the Big Apple. She is going to intern at CBS Evening News! Holy Cracker Jacks!
As we chatted about our experiences we realized that we were similar in a lot of ways. It is nice to know I have a room-mate who understands and who can share this experience with me.

The other 2 suit-mates I met in passing but so far they are some awesome girls also! We are already planning a potluck night... however with only 1 microwave and 2 stove burners... don't know how much we can make.
Send me some easy recipes that use either stove top or microwaves?
Above: The lights at night from my window. Not a good image but still... you get the idea.
That's my bed! Look Ma, it's made! I'll be sure to keep it that way!
Well I am super tired right now... traveling and then unpacking has really kicked my butt.
I am so happy you are reading my blog and wanting to experience this with me. I can't brag on my friends and family enough. I love you all so much!
Hopefully I will have more for you soon!
xoxo
